34 cm Septarian nodule with Xipheroceras and others and wood – From Charmouth

A unique beach worn stone packed with Xipheroceras, Promicroceras and Cymbites ammonites scattered across a large wood tree trunk showing some interesting knots. The piece is a septarian stone – the ammonites have been prepared within their cell walls and the calcite veins have been polished so their crystal nature can be seen. Found on Charmouth beach, Jurassic coast, UK

 

Measuring 34 cm across it’s widest part with no repairs or restoration, freestanding on a

Lower Sinemurian, Black Ven Mudstone Member, Charmouth Mudstone Formation, Charmouth, Dorset. 195 MYA
